Clonerix Responsible Use Policy

AI-powered website cloning is an incredibly powerful tool. With great power comes great responsibility. This Responsible Use Policy defines what we at Clonerix consider acceptable, unacceptable, and actively discouraged use of our platform. If you are ever unsure whether a specific use case falls within these guidelines, please reach out to our support team before proceeding. We would much rather answer a question up front than take action on an account later.

Overview

Clonerix exists to help marketers, founders, and agencies move faster without sacrificing quality. Our platform captures the structural and layout patterns of public web pages so you can use them as a starting point for your own work. We enthusiastically support legitimate, differentiated, creative uses of cloning technology.

We do not exist to enable plagiarism, trademark infringement, passing off, fraud, phishing, copyright piracy, or any other activity that harms the rights or interests of third parties. Using Clonerix for those purposes is a violation of this policy and of our Terms of Service, and will result in account suspension or termination.

This policy is intentionally written in plain language. It is not a legal document. We enforce the spirit as well as the letter. If you find a technical loophole that technically does not violate a specific bullet point below but clearly violates the intent of the policy, we will still take action. Be reasonable. Be ethical. Treat other creators the way you would want your own work to be treated.

Permitted Uses

The following categories are not just permitted, they are actively encouraged. These are the use cases we built Clonerix for, and the scenarios where our users get the most value out of the platform.

Competitive research and inspiration capture. Clone public pages from public sites, store them in your private projects library, and use them as reference material for design reviews, positioning discussions, and structural brainstorms. This is one of the most common and most legitimate uses of cloning.

Structural templates for your own original content. Clone a layout pattern you admire, then rewrite all copy from scratch, swap in your own imagery, apply your own brand colors and logo, and publish. This is the canonical happy-path use case for Clonerix.

Cloning your own sites and properties. Clone your own legacy marketing site into a modern editable version. Clone one of your existing funnels as a starting point for a new product. Clone your production site to create a staging copy. You can do anything you want with content you own the rights to.

White-label work for clients with permission. As an agency or freelancer, clone an approved reference structure that your client has explicitly signed off on, rebrand it for them, and deliver the final differentiated site. Always get written approval of the reference direction from the client before you start.

A/B testing and rapid prototyping. Clone several competing structural approaches, rebrand them identically, and split traffic between them to find the winning layout. The only thing being tested is structure, not the other brand's identity.

Prohibited Uses

The following uses are strictly forbidden under all circumstances. Engaging in any of these activities is grounds for immediate account termination, and may expose you to civil or criminal liability depending on your jurisdiction.

Passing off and impersonation. Never clone a site in a way that could reasonably confuse a visitor into believing they are interacting with the original brand. Do not clone bank login pages, payment processor pages, government sites, social media platforms, or any site where the point of the clone is to trick someone into entering credentials or personal information.

Phishing, fraud, and scams. Any use of Clonerix to facilitate phishing, advance-fee fraud, fake cryptocurrency schemes, non-fungible token rug pulls, pyramid schemes, or any form of deceptive financial solicitation will result in immediate account termination and reporting to the appropriate authorities.

Verbatim commercial cloning of competitor brands. Do not clone a competitor's entire website word-for-word and image-for-image, change only the domain name, and run ads against it. This is the behavior that gives cloning a bad name. It is lazy, it is unethical, and it creates legal risk for everyone involved.

Distribution of illegal content. Do not use Clonerix to publish or distribute content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or in the jurisdictions where your audience lives. This includes without limitation content depicting child sexual abuse material, non-consensual explicit material, incitement to violence, terrorist material, and controlled substances sales content.

Circumventing access controls. Do not attempt to clone content that is behind login walls, paywalls, password protections, private network restrictions, or any other form of access control. Clonerix only works on content that is publicly accessible. If you have to log in, bypass, or break something to see the page, you should not be cloning it.

Intellectual Property Guidance

Intellectual property is the most common source of confusion around cloning. The short version: copyright protects specific creative expression, not general ideas, systems, or structural patterns. Trademark protects source identifiers. Responsible cloning copies neither.

Copyright. Verbatim text, original photography, custom illustration, video, audio, and hand-authored creative code are all almost certainly copyrighted. Do not copy them. Layout grids, spacing scales, section ordering, color palette structures, general component placement, and other structural design decisions are generally not copyrighted. You can use those as a starting point.

Trademark. Brand names, logos, registered slogans, product names, distinctive character mascots, and other source identifiers are protected by trademark law. Strip every single one out of your cloned projects before publishing. Leaving even one competitor trademark in a footer or on a badge is an unnecessary source of risk.

Patent. Utility patents can cover specific methods and processes implemented on a website. This rarely comes up for standard marketing pages. If you are cloning a custom software product, calculator, or interactive tool rather than a standard page, you may want specialized legal advice.

Trade secret. Anything behind a login wall that is not generally known to the public, from customer lists to pricing sheets to internal dashboards, could be considered a trade secret. As with all non-public content, do not clone it.

Branding and Differentiation Rules

The line between inspiration and infringement is often context dependent, but for Clonerix projects we draw it in a very specific place. We require every project published to the public internet to meet minimum differentiation standards before we consider it compliant with this Responsible Use policy.

Copy differentiation requirement. Every sentence of body copy, every headline, every bullet point, and every call-to-action label must be rewritten in your own words. Paraphrasing line by line is not enough. Close the source tab and write it from scratch. If we open your published clone side-by-side with the source and we can match sentences word for word, your project is not differentiated enough.

Imagery differentiation requirement. Every hero image, product photo, team headshot, testimonial profile picture, custom illustration, icon set, and decorative graphical asset must be replaced with imagery you have the rights to use. Original photography is best. Licensed stock imagery is acceptable. AI generation with an appropriate commercial license is acceptable. Leaving the original site's imagery in place is not acceptable.

Brand identity requirement. Apply your own brand palette, your own logo, your own favicon, your own typography preferences if the source uses a distinctive custom typeface, your own footer contact information, and your own legal links. A visitor skimming the page should immediately know whose site they are on, even if the structural layout feels familiar.

Mechanism differentiation strongly recommended. This is the highest bar and the one that most clearly separates ethical cloning from lazy copying. Give your own product a distinct name, your own proprietary framework, your own set of steps, your own set of deliverables, and your own visual explanation of your process. The more distinct your offer is at the mechanism level, the safer and more authentic the end result will be.

Content Standards

Beyond intellectual property issues, Clonerix users are expected to publish content that meets basic standards of human decency and legality. The following content rules apply to all projects on our platform, whether cloned or built from scratch.

Do not publish content that promotes or incites violence against any group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, immigration status, or any other protected characteristic.

Do not publish content that harasses, doxxes, threatens, or intimidates private individuals. Do not publish hacked or leaked personal information. Do not publish non-consensual explicit material or content that sexualizes minors in any form.

Do not publish content that sells counterfeit goods, prescription medications without a valid pharmacy license, weapons or weapon components where prohibited by law, or any other product or service that violates applicable regulations.

Do not publish content that deliberately spreads verifiably false information in service of harm to public health, democratic electoral processes, or personal safety of identifiable individuals.

Enforcement

Our Responsible Use team reviews a combination of automated signals and manual reports. When a potential violation is flagged, a human being reviews the case and makes a judgment call. We deliberately err on the side of caution in edge cases.

First offense for minor issues. For unintentional, clearly minor violations such as forgetting to swap out imagery or leaving in a stray trademark reference, we will typically send a warning and give you 48 hours to cure the issue before taking any further action.

Repeated or intentional offenses. For deliberate violations of the prohibited use list, or for repeated minor offenses after a warning, we will suspend the offending project without prior notice and may temporarily disable account publishing capabilities.

Severe violations. For phishing, fraud, impersonation of regulated entities, illegal content distribution, and other clearly severe violations, we will terminate the account permanently without warning and cooperate with any appropriate law enforcement investigations.

All enforcement decisions can be appealed by replying to the enforcement notice email. Appeals are reviewed by a senior member of the team who was not involved in the original decision.

Reporting Misuse

If you are a rights holder and you believe a Clonerix user has infringed on your intellectual property rights, please send a detailed notice to our designated agent at the email address listed on our contact page. Include at minimum:

• A description of the copyrighted work or trademark you believe has been infringed
• The exact URL of the original work on your own property
• The exact URL of the allegedly infringing project on Clonerix
• A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized
• Your contact information and a physical or electronic signature
• A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, under penalty of perjury

We process legitimate notices quickly and in accordance with applicable law, including the DMCA notice-and-counter-notice process for US copyright claims.

If you are not a rights holder but you have observed Clonerix being used for phishing, fraud, scams, or other prohibited activities, please report it to the same address. We appreciate community vigilance in keeping the platform safe.

Send a detailed message to our support team with as much context as possible about what you want to clone and what you intend to do with the output. We will give you a written answer as quickly as we can.

We would much rather spend ten minutes answering a question up front than spend hours dealing with the aftermath of an avoidable policy violation. Responsible use is a collaborative effort between Clonerix as a platform and Clonerix as a user community. We are all on the same team.

This policy is current as of the date listed at the bottom of the page. We update it periodically as the platform evolves and as we see new edge cases in the wild. Material changes are announced in the product dashboard and via email to registered account holders.
